Hurricane Beryl Recovery Update – Debris Removal Contract Awarded

LID 15 awarded the Hurricane Beryl Debris Removal contract to Looks Great Services of MS in the amount of $276,900. The debris removal contract is currently being finalized, and the contractor is expected to mobilize in June. Their contract time is limited to 60 days, so all Hurricane Beryl debris removal is still scheduled to be completed by August. A more detailed schedule for each area of debris removal will be posted before the project starts in June.

Earlier this year, LID 15 was awarded a $147,000 Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The $276,900 debris removal cost exceeds the grant amount that was estimated by NRCS. However, LID 15 has requested more than $70,0000 in additional financial assistance so the District can be reimbursed for 75% of the total project cost.

Since Hurricane Beryl, LID 15 has worked closely with NRCS to minimize the total cost to taxpayers. Unfortunately, for debris removal costs to remain eligible for NRCS reimbursement, the work could not begin until the EWP grant was awarded in April. LID 15 thanks the residents of Riverstone for their patience and support during this final phase of Hurricane Beryl recovery.
